Germans 'forgetting' Holocaust

According to an article in the Dutch daily Telegraaf (Dutch) nearly half of all Germans under 24 do not know the meaning of the word 'Holocaust'. Almost 80 percent indicated they thought it had 'something to do with illusions about race'.

The article also states that East-Germans are slightly more aware of history than West-Germans, and men more so than women.

Those who forget history... But then I guess, it is something you'd want to forget. And those doing the teaching don't want to have to remind. Next thing you know, you might start feeling guilt.

Apologies

To my regular visitors: I have been quite ill with a nasty flu for more than two weeks now. I'm slowly recovering, following the news but I don't quite feel up to posting regularly. But don't worry... I'LL BE BACK.
