Meanwhile, our leaders take action...
The unelected leaders of the EU propose (Dutch) a 'code of conduct' for the media in their relation with religion.
I was about to say that these people are so out of touch with the people they are meant to represent. But William Buckley shows it seems they know what's what after all:
There are Europeans who are satisfied that the tradition of press liberty is asserting itself in the current challenge but who are entitled to wonder whether five, ten years from now — let alone fifty — any such frolic as that of Jyllands-Posten would in fact be tolerated. The laws asserting the freedom of the press, like most laws, depend for their fortitude on public backing. Forty-two percent of Germans, polled on the question, opposed publishing "cartoons which might hurt religious feelings."
It seems that Europe, and Holland in partcular, has forgotten about Theo van Gogh, and all his murder signifies:
[The idea of reinstating blasphemy laws] becomes especially ironic when you're like me and don't believe in God. I feel no need to deliberately offend those who do, but to me blasphemy is less evil an offense than is jay-walking. Most of Holland is for all intents and purposes secular (although Islam is rapidly changing that!), and so for most Dutch, it is actually impossible to offend God, because they don't believe He exists!
Reinstating blasphemy laws is a way to rationalize the silencing of criticism of Islam. Plain and simple.
We are giving ground to these religious psychotics (which is most muslims, apparently). We are not even putting up a fight and losing it.
We are simply submitting. To the religion of submission.
Islamic outrage at every corner, for just about every step we take. They threaten us with annihilation, demolition, another 9/11, they call us cancer (with Islam as the cure of course), they want to saw our heads off.
They do all this in English too, which normally they don't speak. They must really be talking to us. They live here. In Europe. If they had their way, they would turn it into another Kashmir.
The West is in trouble. Childbirth rates are way below replacement levels. Pensions for the elderly can no longer be maintained. Societies are going through rapid changes due to demographic upheavals. Countries find themselves dependant upon imported ill-educated nationals to fill jobs and pay taxes.
And for the first time, more native Europeans are leaving for Australia and America then there are Moroccans and Turks moving in.
Western Europe is disintegrating. The simple fact that not enough native children are born to replace their parents says it all. But nowhere is the situation more desperate than in Israel. It seems that the more proof is presented to the Israeli leadership that there IS no partner for peace, the more they look away.
So instead of dealing with Iran, instead of accepting the consequences of the Hamas election victory, Israel turns upon its own:
PERVERSELY, WHILE the rest of the West is awake to the threat of jihad, Israel's government remains stubbornly asleep. Although all jihadist groups and societies daily declare that the destruction of Israel is one of the first aims of their war on the West, the Israeli government itself is largely in denial of both the fact that Israel is a prime target in a larger Islamic jihad and of the fact that the Palestinians see themselves as the flag bearers of global jihad in their war against Israel.
Rather than accept the reality or Israel's predicament, the current Israeli government, like its predecessors, insists that the real "root" of the global jihad being waged against it is the presence of Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria or the absence of Palestinian statehood in general. ... Olmert's decision to send a force of 6,000 policemen to the community of Amona on Wednesday in order to destroy nine homes was an act of deliberate provocation. His aim was to divert the attention of Israeli voters from the Hamas state in Gaza and the Hamas state-in-the-making in Judea and Samaria by providing them with pictures of settlers battling riot police. This was necessary because Olmert's only policy regarding Hamas is to transfer Judea and Samaria to their control.
Caroline Glick leaves no doubt about what the direct consequences of this willful blindness will be:
In light of this, Olmert and his associates desperately strive for the Israeli electorate to ignore the fact that the only real issue on the agenda today is whether Hamas will rule over Judea and Samaria or the Israeli military will rule over Judea and Samaria. As Israelis learned from 2000 to 2002, when the IDF cedes control over Judea and Samaria to the Palestinians, life for Israelis becomes impossible. The security of Tel Aviv is dependent on Israel maintaining control of Jenin, Nablus, Kalkilya and Tulkarm. The security of Jerusalem is dependent on Israeli control of Bethlehem, Ramallah and Hebron.
In effect, another 'disengagement' will take place.
I don't believe there is Jew alive in Israel who thinks that all will be well once the Arabs get another country. I am convinced that they all realize another war will erupt one day. It could be started by the Arabs, because they again feel strong and confident enough, or it could be another defensive war like '67, when Israel realizes war is imminent and decides to strike first.
I also think Israel believes it will win this war, any war. I think there is a dangerous, if not fatal confidence in its military superiority. I don't want to go into wether this confidence is justified, because I think it shouldn't matter: Israel is not only nourishing and feeding its existing enemies, it is actually creating them where there were none before. This war is inevitable, and yet it is unnecessary. There are many similarities between the Arabs and the Nazi's, not the least of them their hatred of the Jews, but here's the most painful one: Hitler could have been stopped at several points in history by the parties that were forced to deal with him in 1939 and onwards. But they didn't, and as a result, the conflict turned into a world war. Whereas the scale of the conflict would have been so much smaller, had the Allies intervened in Checkoslovakia, or Austria.
But Israel? Not only do they let the Arabs proceed unhindered, in this analogy, they actually clear the lands of themselves (by force) before the barbarians invade.
On numerous occasions, Arab terrorists have stated that they are morally superior to the West, and are destined to win their war against us because we love life (which makes us weak), whereas they love death. One example (of many):
Hezbollah's Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah revealed in an interview after the recent prisoner swap between Israel and his group: "We have discovered how to hit the Jews where they are the most vulnerable. The Jews love life, so that is what we shall take away from them. We are going to win, because they love life and we love death."
For those who think that this is despair, oppression and occupation talking, here's where that mindset really originated: It was Mohammed himself who taught muslims to think this way. To despize what Christians and Jews regard as self-evident, the sanctity of life.
...Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘You will fall prey to other nations, in the same way eaters gather upon a tureen.’ A man asked, ‘Is it due to our small numbers?’ The Prophet said, ‘Nay, you will be abundant at that time. But you will be as worthless as scum. And Allah will void the hearts of your enemy of any respect for you, and He will imbue your hearts with effeteness.’ People asked, ‘What do you mean by effeteness?’ The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘It is to love life and hate death.’”
Effeteness. Normally translated to effeminateness, decadence. To Mohammed it meant: Loving life, hating death.
What to normal Western people is normal, moral and right, is to Mohammed decadent, effeminate, and effete.
This quote from Mohammed is what all muslim terrorists refer to. I wrote this more than 2 years ago:
They hate and hate and hate, they teach their children to hate, they preach hate in their mosques, they propagate hate on TV and radio. Hatred against everything that is better in this world then they are, which is almost everything. The Arab mentality is not one of healthy competition, where I strive to be as good as or better than you, but one of destruction, where I pull everything down to my squalid level. They could have been, they should have been the richest people on Earth. Instead they squander their trillions, on what, no one knows.
Things have only become worse since then. So it is more important than ever before to realize that it is Mohammed and his evil ideology where today's terrorists find the inspiration and justification for their crimes.
Hate life. Love death. Well, you can't say Mohammed's words have fallen on deaf ears.
What's the only thing better than an Oscar nomination? That's right. And it might just get as obscene as that for Hany Abu-Assad. He's nominated for his "Paradise Now", a vile piece of propaganda endorsing Arab suicide bombers in Israel.
I wrote about Assad earlier. I think I will be kind of surprised by now if he DOESN'T win the Oscar. The movie has won just about every other movie award there is. And it fits. Hamashaswon a resounding victory. Denmark is hiding under the kitchen table because of a few cartoons.
Yes. I think we're ready to give the world's premier movie award to a film that glorifies murdering Jews by the exploding of Arabs.
The fact that Pat Buchanan is a Jew-hating moron is widely accepted. Its cause is less well known, but I'm beginning to suspect there's a biological or medical problem underlying it, because the phenomenon is getting worse. In a piece of garbage at WorldNetDaily, the symptoms manifest themselves more clearly than ever before. One of the characteristics of a true nutbag is his ability to make sense intermittently, just enough to avoid a forced admittance to the nuthouse:
Now that elections have been held, what do the returns show?
Propelled into or toward power have been Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Iran, pro-Iranian Shiite zealots in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and Hamas in Gaza and on the West Bank.
Buchanan is of course completely correct on the (predictable) effects of free and fair elections for a people who are neither free nor fair. He doesn't even mention Algeria, where hundreds of thousands have died after radical muslims won the elections but were kept out of power by the army.
And then Buchanan's madness returns with a verngeance:
What will Hamas do? They are not going to disarm in the face of an Israeli military that has been killing Palestinians – collateral damage, of course – at four times the rate that Palestinians have been killing Israelis. They are not going to give up their trump card and recognize Israel's right to exist before they get a Palestinian state.
First, he slips in a nice bit of moral equivalence, the old "Israeli's killed more 'Palestinians' than vice versa". Well good thing they did too, seeing most of the Arabs killed were in fact still clutching their weapon when they suddenly faced Allah, or had in some other creative way been involved in that favourite Arab passtime, Jew-killing. Whereas most Israeli's killed by 'Palestinians' were civilians, often children, on buses, in bars and cinema's. Nice one, Pat.
And as for not having recognized Israel's right to exist as a "trump card", well, obviously Pat has never played poker.
But Pat has a great idea:
Let me propose another course. Put Hamas on probation.
For almost a year, Hamas has held to a truce with Israel and not engaged in attacks. Let America and Europe send word that if the truce holds, if Hamas does not attack Israeli civilians, if Hamas show its first concern is, as it claims, bettering the life of the Palestinian people, we will let the aid flow. But if Hamas reignites the war, we will not finance the war. We will terminate the aid.
Pat thinks Hamas has held to a truce, for a year even. This is too silly to respond to. But for Pat, this is more than enough reason to give them millions, even billions perhaps, and if they then violate or end the truce, ok, then stop giving them millions or billions. No matter that the money received until then will already have been spent on weapons and explosives to - you guessed it - kill Jews. But I forget, for Pat that is not such a bad plan to start with.
Understandably, the Israelis are close to hysterical over the landslide for Hamas and are on a diplomatic campaign to have all donors end all aid to a Palestinian Authority dominated by Hamas.
I haven't observed any hysteria in Israel, Pat. Ever. Certainly not over the election of one bunch of Jew-killers over another. And in case you forgot Pat, Hamas was still regarded as a terrorist organization by most civilized countries, including the US, last time I looked. Do you propose to fund Al-Qaeda next Pat, if and when they get elected in Afghanistan? So they can buy new Boeings?
...it has been Israel's behavior, and uncritical U.S. support for that behavior, that produced this victory for Hamas.
Yes, and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion are not forgeries after all Pat. 'Palestinians' voted for Hamas because of the despair, the oppression, the occupation, right Pat? And the Irish love Jews too.
It is rumoured that Hitler had syphilis, and that this was if not the, then certainly a reason for his insanity.
Pat should have himself tested for a STD. The result might explain a lot.
Muslims worldwide are hurting. They are in pain. They are suffering, because their prophet was drawn up in cartoons. And not just any, he was actually made fun of.
I have heard lots of people argue for the right of the Danish newspaper to publish what they want, for freedom of the press.
I have heard the Danish government argue that they won't apologize for the insult because that would interfere with said freedom.
But I have yet to hear a single person wonder out loud exactly what the problem is.
A Danish newspaper publishes a dozen cartoons of some guy that lived in Arabia in the 6th century, and now people in Pakistan, Egypt, Iran and the rest of the muslim world are in pain, feel insulted?
The real problem here is that the West is actually responding to this lunacy. It is the same lunacy that swept the West after the alleged koran 'desecrations'. I had a cure for that, and it would work just as well in this case. How long do you think muslims would keep at it if cartoons of Mohammed getting anally penetrated by his donkey appeared daily? Perhaps not in the best taste, but for a worthy goal, surely we could publish cartoons of Mohammed marrying a five year old girl? (Oops, that really happened) Muslims worldwide would resent us for it, but then, they don't like us much now either.
The current uproar fits in the picture of dhimmitude. If they can get governments to apologize to them, for whatever, they have scored a point, set a precedent. Even if they get a government to apologize for not being able to apologize (which is effectively what the Danish government did), they have won another small victory, and more importantly, we have lost some more ground.
We will have admitted that it actually matters that muslims get offended by whatever we say about Mohammed. That their 7th century barbaric rituals - and the person who conceived of them - are more important to us than our freedom of speech, freedom of the press.
We don't apologize to the Pope when the catholic faith is offended. And we shouldn't. We certainly don't apologize to Jews when their religion is offended. And we shouldn't.
The fact that we make an exception for muslims is a grave mistake. And all the more ominous because Islam deserves to be ridiculed even more than other ideologies.
So I'm starting the treatment today, right now, right here: Translation: "Highpoint from the children's koran: 9-year old Aisha loses her virginity to the prophet Mohammed"
We search the purses of little old ladies so that recent immigrants from Saudi Arabia named "Mohammed" wearing massive backpacks don't get singled out.
